Gapapu : Day of suspicion in Rwanda

Sebigeri Paul popularly known as Mimi La Rose is a Rwandan artist who has become very popular while in Orchestre Impala, where he has been a musician when it was founded.  Mimi La Rose is an old man born in 1954, and he knows the origin of each and every song of Impala.

Mimi La Rose explains that the story from the song was true. Kaberuka was loved by his friend's lover Marita whom he accompanied. Kaberuk and Marita's love story continued and now they're living as husband and wife.

Mimi La Rose says that the young man whose lover had been taken was the one who told them the story of his experience and persuaded them to make a song based on that story, they afterward accepted and released it.  Even though Kaberuka who is mentioned as his real name, Marita is not, the name of the person who was married to Kaberuka is not mentioned in the song.

Most Rwandans have entitled this day the  'Gapapu day' and they show it as a day of caution for the people who introduce their loved ones to their friends.  This cautious day occurs in prior to Valentine's Day which is considered as a day of love and lovers in general. For that reason, people are ad iced to pay attention so that they may not find themselves in Kaberuka and his best friend's situation.
Kaberuka's family is said to be living in Rutsiro
